The O’Leary Studio of Celtic Dance:

The O’Leary Studio of Dance is a dance studio that offers two forms of dance: Highland Dancing and Irish Dancing. We compete in provincial, national and international competitions as well as perform for corporate events and enjoy doing cabaret and shows. We offer dancing classes for all ages ranging between 5 and 25 for both boys and girls. For information on our classes please contact us.

The studio recently located from Port Elizabeth back to where it all started – Pretoria. Avril O’Leary started her studio in Pretoria in 1968 and has come full circle, teaching in Durban, Pietermaritsburg, Port Elizabeth, back to Centurion, Pretoria. In the past 43 years Avril O’Leary has taught numerous successful dancers including her two daughters, one becoming a double World Champion. Gillian O’Leary (the double World Champion) has been teaching in the studio since 2002. She too has taught many successful dancers. To see profiles on our teachers please click here.

The O’Leary Studio bosts over 20 South African Championship titles and 2 World Championship titles. We are very proud of our past champions and hope to have many more in the future. To see profiles on our Champions click here.

The O’Leary Studio strives to teach their pupils good technique (turnout, pointing feet etc), athletism (elevation, stamina) and stage presence (looking good for the judge). We also strive to teach dancers important life skills such as discipline, concentration, social skills, sportsmanship etc. The proof is in the puddying as most of our dancers lead successful lives after their dancing careers.
